The Four Generations in a work force...and where do I fit in
Recently, we had a seminar on the four generations in work force. I work for a company that has a low turn over rate. When I first started, 7 years ago, about 70% of the people here had been here for 20-30 years already. Many had started and stayed until they were going to retire. So the seminar was important for everyone to learn. This is the just of it, or the four categories that were given to us:
The Matures - born prior to 1946
The Baby Boomers - born between 1946 through 1964
Generation X - born between 1965 through 1980
The Millennials - born 1981 through 1994
All bring with them different perspectives on life and work. The Matures are dedicated to a job once they take it, the Boomers live to work, Generation X work to live, and the Millennials live in the moment. All have great ideas to bring to the workforce and all can benefit the organization, but we have to learn to value the differences and not get caught up in thinking our generation's way is the best way.
So here's my question in all of this jibberish. Where do I fit in? I feel like a zodiac sign that's on the cusp. I'm a gen X/millenial I suppose. But I can relate to the baby boomers and even the matures, because I am an old soul and find old fashioned values refreshing. I'm dedicated to my job as a mother, as a wife, as a friend. I live to work and work to live and sometimes I find myself living in the moment. Can you be all four generations rolled up into one body?
I'm 35 going on 36. I have two teenagers, 16 & 14 and a 7 year old....all girls. I like to bake, cook, read and excerise with my family. We hang out with friends, bbq, bonfire or just lay around and watch movies. I also like to have happy hours, go out and dance on occasion and party it up when the mood hits. I feel awkward at the club because i'm too old, but i'm not ready for the bingo parlor quite yet. I feel so in limbo at my age. As a teen I was unsure of myself, of my body, of my looks. In my twenties I was juggling young motherhood, a crazy relationship and a full time job. Now in my thirties i'm solid, I'm still a tad insecure of my looks and body but i'm at the age it pretty much doesn't matter anymore, and i'm juggling teenagers and a full time job with volunteering in between. I'm still trying to fit in though. Trying to find the nitch as to where I fit in. But when I stopped and I thought about it, I don't want to be in a category. I myself have never fallen under a group or "she's just like so and so" i've always been an individual. I hung out with all crowds from nerds to gangsters and the same applies to my life today. I will never belong in a category, and I dont' think you have to be born in a certain year to be a mature, or a baby boomer or gen x or even a millennial. I think the values you are instilled with is what shapes you into your category. It will be my job to shape my children into bodies who are dedicate, who live to work and are sometimes spontaneous because that is when genious happens.

Daughters with Strict Dads and the Moms who try to even the playing field.....
I am a young mother. I had my oldest three months after my 19th birthday. Now at age 35, My oldest daughter is 16, the middle daughter is 14 and the youngest daughter is 7. Yes you heard me right, three girls. It's why I stopped having children. one they're ridiculously expensive and two, I don't need another lady in my life. I love my girls, don't get me wrong. and I love love love children. I just want to give the three that I already have a great life without adding more complications to it. I'm not a single mom, I've been with their dad since I was 18. We are not married (if it's not broke, why fix it?!) and we have struggled as young parents, young relationships and just being young and dumb. And the struggle is far from over, it's just now becoming a little more even. Dad is a true mexican father. He keeps his girls close and his daughters closer. lol. They're not allowed to go out very often, or stay at peoples houses. However, they can have as many friends over as they want, and we try to fill the house with snacks and fun things to do to keep them busy. But really, they're teenagers and they want to go do things. Especially the oldest. She's going to be a junior in highschool and she's not even allowed to have a boyfriend yet! She's a very good girl. She helps around the house, she cooks, she helps with her sisters. She gets great grades, and doesn't talk back often. (she's still a teenager, i'd be lying if I said she NEVER talked back!) I've tried to have a talk with her dad, but I believe parents should stick with each others decisions in front of the kids. I can disagree behind closed doors, but united parenting is important. SO instead I try to make things good for both sides. I drop them off at the movies, pick them up. If a boy goes to meet them it's not my business, as long as they are there at the movies when i show up 20 minutes early to pick them up, i'm happy. I'm not for premiscuity, I think serious dating should be saved for college. But I don't think holding them back when they are ready is beneficial. I'm trying to raised old fashioned girls, in a modern world. I tell them it's okay to be modest, and not post half naked selfies. You're still beautiful with clothes on! I'm all about fashion, makeup, and beauty. I just don't think you need to starve or wear skimpy clothes to look beautiful.
What are your experiences with teenage daughters? I would love to hear other experiences!

Oh summer .....you make me feel so warm and fuzzy
I'm a summer baby.. a Leo(roar)...so naturally, I love SUMMER!!! (in my OLAF from Frozen Voice) Now winter isn't so bad, chunky sweaters and comfy clothes are nice. But being cold is definitely not a preference. The sun comes out and I am like a puppy in a window, lazing in the suns rays. I open my sun roof just so I can feel the warmth. It's easier to throw on sandals and a cute top with some capris or skinny jeans than layer on a ton of clothes too! I do work in an office so my "granny" cardi is usually nearby, but it's thrown off as soon as i'm out the door!
What else do I love besides the family time on the river, partying, camping, bbqing, bonfires, smores, sun tea, mojitos, oyster shooters, sun burns, sun tans, ceviche, ice cold beers, beautiful gardens, fruit galore and summer hours at work?! CLOTHES! :) I love being able to throw on bright coral capris with a black and white checkered top. Or deep blue shorts with a turquoise top, fun jewelry and wedges. I love the new edgy look with a printed top, striped bottoms, crazy jewelry. I can't wait for this summers looks and styles. What my friends do YOU love about summer and fashion?

MakeupMomma 509
Welcome to my page! I love to share my views on products, coupons, fashion, or just funny life stories. I'm 35 years old, a mom to three daughters ages 16, 14 and 7. I am not married but my "husfriend" and I have been together for almost 17 & 1/2 years. We also have two fursons, 10 & 2. :) I'm a westcoast girl who's always loved makeup, hair and fashion. I am not a professional but will still help out with up-dos, makeup for special occasions or halloween. My everyday job is accounting in an office working with a big potato company. But on the side I love going shopping, cooking, baking and trying new makeup products! My family is my life. I spend a lot of time with my girls, my friends and family, making food, baking and of course SHOPPING. I've tried to tap into the couponing community, but I'm still a definite rookie. So stay tuned for more funny stories, reviews, or recipe sharing. you can also follow me on instagram @motd_ootd_makeupmomma. have a fantabulous day!
#NeoReady #TLCVoxBox via Influenster
So let me start off by saying I'm already a HUGE neosporin fan. That sounds weird, I know. But when you're "gracefully" clumsy like myself, neosporin is your best friend. Not only am I completely uncoordinated and trip over imaginary items on the floor or tables that magically appear, my beautiful daughters have since inherited my clumsy gene! It's become a family joke at this point..and there is not one bag or purse that doesn't have a first aid kit readily available. I feel like i'm the dad on my big fat greek wedding, only instead of putting windex on everything, I use neosporin. I have even used it on my dogs, from grooming burns to scratches. All that being said, when Influenster sent me the TLCVoxBox to try I was A. Super excited because hey who doesn't like free stuff!? and B. eyes wide because the neo to go was in there! Of course it was taken over by my 7 year old who believes I buy everything specifically for her. It took us a couple pumps to get the first spray out but then, BAM. She was #NeoReady. All her scratches have now been sprayed and she is SO excited it clips on to her purse. Thank you Influenster for my box. And Thank you neosporin for well being you!
